INDECOM probing another police fatal shooting

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing another fatal shooting by the police this morning after a man was killed during an alleged confrontation in Hungry Town, St Andrew.

As at September 25, some 230 people were fatally shot by the police in Jamaica.

The month of September has so far recorded 20 incidents according to data on INDECOM's website.

One hundred and eight-nine people were killed during alleged confrontations with the police for the entire 2024.

In the latest incident, reports reaching The Gleaner are that about 4:50 a.m. Thursday, a major operation was conducted within the St Andrew North police division where multiple locations were targeted.

The Gleaner understands that during this operation, an unidentified man was fatally shot and a firearm and ammunition reportedly seized at a property in Hungry Town, off Mannings Hill Road.

The 'Big Yard' area of Mannings Hill was also targeted as the police and military continued their operation.

Up to Saturday, 47 illegal guns were seized in the St Andrew North police division.

Meanwhile, the police say they are once again appealing to the following persons who are wanted in the division for murder, to turn themselves in to the Constant Spring Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) or the nearest police station.

1. Fabian Watson, also called Bulla and Tristan, a welder of Florence Hill, St Andrew and Hamilton Gardens, Gregory Park, St Catherine.

2. Shevon Matthews, also called Max, of Zambia, Central Village and Blue Hole district, Red Hills, St Andrew.

3. Kemar Samuda, also called Scamma and Choppa, of a 104 Red Hills Road, Kingston 19 address.

4. Emar Grinham, also called Bully Beef of 128 Barbican Road (Andrews Pen), Kingston 8.

5. Kenroy Willis, also called Papa of a Lawrence Tavern address in St Andrew is wanted for murder and is a person of interest in several other shootings and murders.
