'I still can't believe it's real,' says $229m lottery winner
A St Andrew mother has claimed a massive $229 million Lotto jackpot, expressing that her immediate priorities for the cash are a car and her children's education.
The jackpot was won with the numbers 05, 08, 11, 17, 27, 30 drawn on August 13, 2025.
"I still can't believe it's real," said the winner during the official presentation event. "I usually have a specific set of numbers that I buy but this time I bought a quick pick ticket instead. When I checked the numbers in the morning, I had to keep checking and checking to make sure my eye wasn’t fooling me! It’s still sinking in that this actually happening to me.”
The mother of several high school aged children expressed her immediate priorities for the life-changing winnings.
"First thing I'm going to do is buy a car," she explained. "But more importantly, I want to make sure my children's education is completely covered. This money means I don’t have to worry about sending them to university when the time come.”
Stefan Miller, Acting CEO of Supreme Ventures Gaming said it was especially heartwarming to hear how the winner plans to use these funds to invest in her family's future and her children's education.
