Labour Ministry warns of fraudulent job advertisements using Pearnel Charles Jr's image

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security is alerting members of the public to the unauthorised and fraudulent use of the image of Labour Minister Pearnel Charles Jr by two TikTok accounts to promote an alleged overseas employment scam.
The ministry says the accounts use the handles: @abbcore_travel and @purpose_travel_agents.
"These TikTok pages falsely state that they are authorised to provide overseas employment opportunities by using repurposed videos from the ministry’s website and the minister’s image, to deceive and mislead the public," the ministry stated in a media release on Friday.
It said it has received reports that these fraudulent actors are circulating deceptive advertisements preying on Jamaicans who are seeking legitimate employment opportunities abroad.
"These actions are not only unethical but illegal," it said.
