A policeman was killed and his two children injured in a collision along the Winston Jones Highway in Manchester on Sunday.

He has been identified as Sergeant Patrick Brown of the Manchester Division Operations Support Team.

The police say the policeman's twin children remain under medical care at the Mandeville Regional Hospital.

In a statement, the High Command of the Jamaica Constabulary Force said it is deeply saddened by the incident.

"In this difficult moment, the thoughts and prayers of the entire JCF family are with Sergeant Brown’s loved ones, colleagues, and friends."

To provide immediate support, the Chaplaincy Services Branch, the Welfare Division, and the Police Federation have been mobilised and are actively engaging with the family and affected colleagues.

"Sergeant Brown was a valued member of the constabulary, and his loss will be keenly felt across the organisation. The JCF High Command extends its deepest condolences to all who mourn his passing."
