PAC Kingston Airport Limited (PACKAL), the operator of the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA), says normal operations have resumed following the fire yesterday in the Club Kingston area of the airport's terminal.

It says all flights are now operating as planned.

"We recommend that all passengers still verify their flight status directly with their airlines, as there may be other schedule adjustments unrelated to today's incident.

"PACKAL extends its sincere gratitude to all emergency response teams, including our own emergency team, the Jamaica Fire Brigade, the Jamaica Constabulary Force and other partners whose swift and professional actions ensured the safety of all persons and minimised the disruption to the airport’s operations," PACKAL said in a media release this morning.

It said yesterday's incident demonstrated the effectiveness of the airport's emergency protocols.

It added that an investigation will be launched later today into the cause of the fire, and further information will be shared as appropriate.
