A Portland man who launched an attack on a second man during a domestic dispute was chopped to death this morning in Draper's Heights.

The deceased has been identified as George Wright, of a Draper's Heights address.

The Portland police report that Wright was fatally chopped by the second man who attempted to defend himself.

The police said during the dispute shortly before 9 a.m., Wright confronted the man with a machete as he hurled threats and expletives at him.

In fear of his life the man reportedly ran but was chased by Wright. However, it's reported that the second man pulled a machete after he was cornered by Wright.

During the reported sword play, Wright was chopped several times all over his body and fell to the ground.

The second man suffered chop wounds and was assisted by residents.

Wright was pronounced dead at hospital, while the second man was treated and released.

The police have since taken him into custody.

His name has been withheld pending the completion of investigations.
