Murders up by 5.8 per cent since January

The latest police statistics are indicating a 5.8 per cent increase in murders.

According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force, from January 1 to April 28, there were 471 murders up from 445 over the similar period last year.

There was also an increase in shootings but other major crimes declined.
