Barbadian caught with ganja strapped to his thighs arrested, charged

Detectives from the Narcotics Division have arrested and charged a Barbadian for multiple breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

Thirty-six-year-old labourer, Kirk Weekes, of Flat Rock, St George was arrested on Tuesday.

He is charged with Possession of Ganja, Dealing in Ganja and Taking Steps to export Ganja

He is scheduled to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court tomorrow.

The Narcotics Police say about 2:40 Tuesday afternoon, Weekes checked in to board a flight destined to Barbados.

During security screening, he was searched by detectives and a parcel of compressed ganja was found strapped to each of his thighs. 

The ganja weighs approximately 1.7 pounds and according to Narcotics Police, would have fetched Bds$8,000 had it reached its destination.
