Since the dawn of humanity, our curiosity has always drawn us to the out-of-the-ordinary. We spotlight a custom-built home that defies convention, embracing individuality through a modern design that feels ahead of its time.

With its capability to captivate, fascinate, and even motivate, this architectural triumph commands attention at every turn. For example, its exterior combines dominant red wood panelling with colourful stone accents, strategically placed to catch the eye. Expansive glass walls and doors invite sunlight and sea breeze inside. The outdoors is the constant companion of the interior.

Water features, on the inside and outside, put on a performance. There is a waterfall kitchen sink faucet with a digital display, and the swimming pool, with a built-in hot tub, highlighting its own cascading waterfall. By far the most significant water sight is the seemingly boundless Caribbean Sea staring right back at you, up close and personal.

The 8,000-square-foot structure also gives prominence to glass-railed sea and mountain-view balconies, together with a granite and glass staircase. Porcelain floors run throughout. A driveway of interlocking bricks incorporates a dual-access driveway from the main road.

The minimalist room arrangement includes sitting and family rooms, one above the other, separate main (island) and prep kitchens, and a spacious, covered outdoor terrace. There are six spacious bedrooms with private balconies and nine floor-to-ceiling porcelain-walled bathrooms, with a combination of walk-in closets, double floating sink vanities, and ‘his’ and ‘hers’ glass-enclosed, walk-in rain showers. Not to be overlooked is the 270-degree view rooftop entertainment zone. A pool house complements the amenities, along with a double garage.

Completed this year, this dream house is situated on a quarter-acre plot in the unhurried, gated, 24-hour protected neighbourhood of Jamaica Beach, Tower Isle, St Mary, and is 10 minutes east of Ocho Rios.

As we continue to explore the unusual in residential design, we unlock boundless imagination – revealing where our homes may take us tomorrow and beyond.
