We just can’t take our eyes off this residence in Sandy Bay, Hanover, within a 24-hour guarded, ultra-exclusive address. What manner of house, dare we ask, captures and holds our attention with such a spontaneous surge of euphoria?

The answer lies in its irresistible and overwhelming architectural and intimately woven locational attributes. Occupying almost three-quarters of an acre on a hillside ridge, the building, with its relaxed atmosphere, spans 3,642 square feet of classic Jamaican, interior-exterior designed spaces.

The house tour communicates a covered entry, opening to an octagonal (eight-sided), centralised living room, exposing a wet bar (serving alcoholic beverages) and its verandah with all-embracing sea and golf course views – all topped by a dominant, pyramid-shaped, shingle roof, among a multi-roofed arrangement. Spreading out from this section are three sea-vista bedrooms and their patios in the company of en suite bathrooms leading to their private, open-air terraces. Branching off in other directions are the dining room; granite, solid wood and glass panel, island kitchen; and yet another smaller sitting room.

Illuminating the overall design as well are polished hardwood and porcelain tiled floors running through; breeze-admitting louvre windows and doors; varnished wainscoting (wood-panelled walls); built-in display wall shelving; and massive bedroom picture-viewing windows.

What really gives the architecture that special thrill is the cut-stone exterior walls, punctuated by a curved, stone double staircase, leading spectacularly from the upper pool and cascading water fountain, down to the main heated swimming pool below, surrounded by terraced floral gardens. Double roof cupolas (mini roof structures atop roofs) distinguish the roofline. Not to be overlooked are the private beach, tennis court, and gym for the area residents.

One word comes immediately to mind with regards to this residence: unbelievable!
