Morgan attack smokescreen for Phillips' failures

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I was quite amused when I read the letter from the known PNP operative who resides abroad complaining about Robert Nesta Morgan.

The letter seems more like a cry for help for the PNP than a critique of Mr Morgan. Why would the author be begging Dr Phillips to act against the prime minister's director of communications? Is it that the PNP has been beaten to the point that they have surrendered?

The problem with the PNP is that their 'election machinery' has 'popped down' and they have been unable to even have the engine turn over, much less to start and move off.

Since the ascension of Andrew Holness to the leadership of the JLP, the party has moved into third gear and has left the PNP looking bewildered. They have tried to tarnish Mr Holness' and his wife's reputations and have failed. They are now going after Mr Morgan, who they feel has helped Mr Holness and the JLP to become a fine machine.

I remember in all-age school when we had sports day, we would sing a song about the opposition houses being 'unda presha.' It's obvious that Dr Phillips and the PNP are under pressure and, instead of looking within, they are pointing fingers. It was not Mr Holness or Mr Morgan who refused to change course and crashed the PNP bus.

Truth be told, daily, many Comrades on social media have been lashing out at the leadership of the PNP as they realise that Dr Phillips is asleep at the wheel. But what else can he do with a broken-down bus?

Jamaica should be proud of young people like Mr Morgan, who is a son of the soil and who has developed into a powerful political strategist.
