McAlpine residents get medical boost from outreach partnership
WESTERN BUREAU:
Residents of McAlpine, in Westmoreland, recently benefited from a medical outreach initiative conducted by Canadian entity Team Broken Earth, which partnered with the Westmoreland Public Health Department and the Canadian Red Cross to provide medical care.
The exercise delivered primary and community health services to more than 60 patients, covering a range of immediate medical needs through the access to care that was provided to the rural district.
Novlin Leslie Little, the Westmoreland parish manager, welcomed the intervention, underscoring the importance of partnerships in expanding healthcare services at the community level.
“This collaboration has allowed us to bring much-needed medical services directly to the people of McAlpine. We are grateful for the continued support of Team Broken Earth and the Canadian Red Cross, as these partnerships strengthen our outreach efforts and help ensure that no community is left behind,” she said.
Leslie Little also noted that the initiative forms part of the Westmoreland Public Health Services’ ongoing efforts to strengthen community-based care, particularly in hard-to-reach areas, through strategic alliances with local and international partners.
Team Broken Earth has developed a history of working closely with Jamaica’s public health system to support patient-centred care and improve health outcomes across communities in Westmoreland and the wider western region.
