In an emotionally charged statement, Lerlean Williams, mother of the suspect in the murder and alleged rape of nine-year-old Kelsey Cassidy Ferrigon, has denounced her son, declaring she has neither shielded nor supported him.

Williams, speaking with The Gleaner, made it clear that she wants the public to know she has severed all ties with her son.

“Mi nuh have nothing to do with him and I want the public to know that mi nuh have nothing to do with him. Because if mi see him, mi nah have no mercy on him, because him nuh have no heart for the little girl, so mi nuh have none for him, either,” she said.

Describing herself as “the mother of the wicked boy who do the act”, Williams shared that she was deeply shaken by the incident.

She said she is “ripped up inside”.

The mother explained that the young victim is someone close to her heart.

“The little girl is like a daughter to me. When them come here, I was there for them,” she told The Gleaner.

Williams recounted a history of troubling behaviour from her son, including previous charges related to sexual offences. She said she made the difficult decision to cut ties with him long before the current incident.

“After him get lock up, him want me to bail him out, and all the beg him beg me to bail him, mi said, ‘No’. When him get lock up, mi deny him, mi turn mi back on him. Everybody cuss me say mi wicked, but mi never mind the cussing and what people want to say about me, because mi have enough of him,” she said.

Williams also revealed that she saw her son on the morning of the incident and urged him to stay away.

“I saw him the morning of the incident and I told him that no one want to see him around, and he turned away and I have not seen him since.”

Now, Williams says she is living in fear.

“Living in the community, mi fearful. Not from the community, but my own son who don’t like mi.”

In a direct appeal, she urged her son to surrender to the authorities. She said she was making the appeal because “it will not [be] good for him if community members get to him before the police”.

The community remains tense in the wake of the incident, as residents call for justice.

Meanwhile, the suspect remains at large as police continue their search, urging anyone with information to come forward.
