All seems well in Trelawny
The parish of Trelawny seemed to have fared well when a 5.6-magnitude earthquake hit Jamaica on Monday morning.
“It was felt across the parish, but no damage has been reported,” Dion Hylton-Lewis, parish disaster coordinator for Trelawny, told The Gleaner.
Similar feedback has come from the parish’s fire chief and a resident in the parish capital of Falmouth.
“My checks at the time reported that the earthquake was felt, but no damage has been reported,” said Roland Walters, superintendent at the Trelawny Division of the Jamaica Fire Brigade, who pointed out that he was driving at the time so he did not feel it.
However, Millie Walker, a Falmouth resident, said she felt it briefly.
“Before I could realise what it was, it was gone. Thank God no damage so far,” she said.
