Deputy DPP burgled butt naked
The home of a deputy director of public prosecutions was broken into yesterday.
The prosecutor, Adley Duncan, who was home at the time of the robbery, said in a social-media post that he got out of bed to use the bathroom when he saw a strange man in his apartment.
He tweeted that he was naked at the time and immediately pulled on a pair of pants before dashing outside.
Duncan also said he called the police who arrived on the scene shortly after.
The prosecutor said the man got away with his iPad.
Fomer PNP MP Carl Thompson passes
Former People’s National Party member of parliament for West Central St Andrew, Carl Thompson, is dead.
He passed away on Tuesday night after a battle with diabetes and other illnesses, a statement issued by the PNP yesterda said. He was 81.
Born in St Mary, Thompson, a trade unionist, served as councillor in the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation from 1974 to 1976, before winning the West Central St Andrew seat in that year’s general election.
“Thompson was a party stalwart who embodied an enduring commitment to people power and nation building,” said party President Dr Peter Phillips. “Carl loved his family, his party and his country and saw service to the people, especially those in his constituency as a great honour.”
He is survived by his children John, Maxine, Andrea and Camille.
Suspect arrested
A suspect was held yesterday for the murder of 63-year-old Pansford Thompson of New Green, Manchester, earlier this week.
It is reported that about 8:40 p.m. on Monday, January 6, Thompson was chopped during an altercation with a family member.
The police were alerted by residents and Thompson was found lying in a pool of blood in the driveway of his home with multiple chop wounds to the head and upper body.
It was the first murder recorded in Manchester in 2020.
