PNP calls in EOJ
The People's National Party (PNP) has contracted the Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) to conduct its presidential and vice-presidential elections for next Saturday.
Julian Robinson, deputy general secretary of the PNP, yesterday confirmed that the EOJ would be marshalling the elections, the first for the top leadership posts in the party since 2008.
"The EOJ has been invited, and it will be in charge of all aspects of the elections - from registration to the voting and the counting," Robinson told The Gleaner following a logistics meeting at the National Arena yesterday.
"We used them in 2006 and 2008, and we were pretty much satisfied with their performance," added Robinson.
He said it was not yet clear how much the PNP would have to pay the EOJ.
"We have been given a preliminary figure, but the final cost is not yet available. "
