Luv Di Taste ‘trucking’ on taste
Expands menu with spicy new flavour
There’s nothing more savoury than indulging in love at first bite with the golden brown goodness of fried chicken.
Food truck Luv Di Taste has been known for serving exciting fried chicken. The taste had become so popular and so signature that the culinary team decided to branch out to offer barbi-fried chicken. It was a hit among the palates. So with one success following the other, the team decided to expand the poultry offerings even further by creating spicy chicken.
According to co-owner and chef Troy Hanson, the spicy chicken was officially released this week. “It took us some time to create a flavour that was not too spicy, but spicy enough to tingle your taste buds,” he told Food.
When asked what the reviews have been like so far, Hanson revealed that it has been mixed. Some foodies have said that this taste of fried chicken wasn’t spicy enough. Others revealed that it was just right for them, and they were particularly pleased that it stayed true to the Luv Di Taste flavour profile.
On our visit just this week, customers were already getting their fill of the new menu item, mixing it with the other powerhouses like original and barbi-fried chicken.
This expansion comes just as the food truck celebrates its second year in business. “The business has had its fair share of ups and downs. But this roller coaster comes with this line of work. And it has been such a blessing. We are happy to be providing authentic Jamaican flavour to the public. We cook from the heart and we are thrilled by the positive response we have received so far,” he said.
The dedicated team also takes constructive criticism into serious consideration, noting that several instances made both him and his partner go back to the chopping board and return with a refreshed approach.
But there is so much more to Luv Di Taste than fried chicken. “We are known for our lunch items like jerk pork, and jerk chicken as well. We have cow foot today. We do peppered steak as well. But we also offer a wide breakfast menu as well. From the famous ackee and salt fish, brown stew chicken, curried chicken, callaloo and salt fish and cabbage and salt fish. We now do egg sandwiches and an omelette sandwich, which has been doing really well,” he added.
The team has also explored a catering element for persons who are seeking to entice their palate for special occasions. “We’ve done parties and other main events. We have yet to do a wedding. But we are open to providing that.”
He hopes to extend the business venture across the island to open as many food trucks as possible and take the business to global heights.
Hanson said for those who haven’t yet made it to Balmoral Avenue, he is inviting them to savour the flavour and love the taste like everyone else has.
“Come here, experience the taste and experience the customer service. Experience us putting our all into our dishes. You can enjoy it at lunchtime or stop by in the evening. We put extra love into our dishes so expect that as well,” he said.
