NCB fires up the grill in the gardens for Father’s Day
Known for his unmatched expertise and innovative approach to the culinary arts, Chef Dylan Benoit, host of Food Network Canada’s show, Fire Masters, captivated attendees at Sunday’s Grilling in the Garden, the chic BBQ-picnic affair by the National Commercial Bank (NCB). Held in the Chinese Garden at Hope Botanical Gardens, Chef Benoit hosted a live grilling session, engaging guests in an exciting show, as the financial brand celebrated Father’s Day with its clients. Best of all, attendees revelled in the savoury delights of his signature dish – pork belly burnt ends with gochujang glaze, coupled with a sweet potato salad.
Sara Misir, local Formula woman racer and NCB Capital Markets ambassador, and her dad Rugie, also got in on the action with Benoit, who happily obliged a special lesson for the Misirs on how to cut and prepare the pork for his signature dish.
“It was certainly an enjoyable Father’s Day at Grilling in the Garden. The hospitality was excellent! We had some of the pork. It sell off! Everything we sampled was good and we truly appreciate the invitation to this event,” said Clovis Metcalfe.
The Grilling in the Garden spread offered a tantalising array of flavours and dishes to satisfy any palate. From Chef Jacqui Tyson’s barbecue pig’s tail and tender curried goat paired with fragrant rice and peas and roti, to Chef David Bucknor’s roast fish, barbecue pork ribs, whole roast pork and barbecue chicken whose savoury aromas filled the air. For a refreshing twist, Tyson also offered a quinoa salad with feta cheese providing a healthy and tangy option. To top it all off, the desserts were a true indulgence, with options including creamy cheesecake, comforting bread pudding, and an array of other delectable treats.
Steven Gooden, chief executive officer of NCB Capital Markets, shared his excitement, saying: “This is the first staging of our annual Father’s Day event since the pandemic, and we are really happy for the opportunity to celebrate our clients in this way again. Our goal was to create an unforgettable experience for our clients and their families, and the bonus for us was being able to spend such a special day with them face to face.”
In addition to the mouthwatering feast, NCB’s Grilling in the Garden featured old-school games for the entire family, as well as live music from DJ Coppershot. Event partners, CPJ – provided top shelf whisky, while Copperwood Pork supplied meats for Chef Benoit’s speciality dish.
