Harris shines as KC’s four-goal hero
Kingston College’s Trevor Harris delivered a dazzling performance in the Manning Cup clash, netting four of his team’s seven goals in their 7–0 rout of Jamaica College at the National Stadium. The prolific centre-forward was unstoppable, showcasing sharp finishing and powerful strikes that left the JC defence in disarray. Kingston College (KC), overwhelming favourites for the 1965 Manning Cup, took the sole lead in the competition by walloping Jamaica College 7–0 at the National Stadium on November 5, 1965.
KC were early on the attack, and after five minutes of hectic play, inside-right Cary Coke shot home past the Jamaica College goalkeeper. JC then developed a few attacks, but these were easily extinguished by the fit and organised KC defence. Centre-forward Trevor Harris missed a clear chance in the 11th minute, but redeemed himself less than a minute later by putting his team two goals ahead.
The match resumed with KC continuing their relentless assault. Oxford scored in the fifth minute of the second half, and Harris made it 4–0 in the 13th minute. The elated purple-and-white boys swarmed all over JC’s goal, combining precision passing with powerful shooting. Harris fired home a cannon-like left-footer for their fifth goal.
A penalty taken by Franklyn Morant extended the lead to six, and barely a minute later, Harris netted his fourth and KC’s seventh goal.
Referee Ken Chaplin handled the match.
