Alpha Boys’ School celebrated its Diamond Jubilee in 1965, seventy-five years after it was founded in 1890 by the Sisters of Mercy. At the time, the school had more than 400 students on its South Camp Road campus, offering training in trades such as shoemaking, tailoring, cabinet-making, electronics, and agriculture, while also preparing boys for external examinations.
