WISDOM OF THE WEEK

Ocean of answers

Published:Sunday | June 15, 2025 | 12:07 AM

In life, we are constantly swimming in a sea of questions — about our future, relationships, purpose, choices, or even about existence itself. Some people seem to get the answers they seek, while others remain stuck in uncertainty, searching for clarity that never seems to come. Why do answers come to some and elude others?

WHERE DO ANSWERS COME FROM?

We often expect answers to come from external sources — an experienced person, a book, a spiritual guide, or even a sudden sign from the universe. We believe that someone else knows better and so we go on a long journey outward, hoping for someone to solve our inner confusion. But, even when we get answers from others, they only feel right when they resonate deeply within us. If they don’t, we remain dissatisfied. This shows that it’s not where the answer comes from that matters — it’s how deeply it connects to our inner being. The real source of answers is much closer — within ourselves.

WHY DON’T WE HEAR THE ANSWERS?

The biggest reason we miss our answers is ‘noise’ — not just external, but internal noise. Our minds are often crowded with thoughts, doubts, opinions, fears, and expectations. Imagine trying to hear someone whisper in a crowded, noisy room. The whisper is there, but we miss it because of all the noise.

Similarly, our inner voice — the source of guidance — is soft, calm, and clear. But we don’t hear it because our minds are too loud. We keep asking questions without giving ourselves the silence to receive the response. When we are too busy, too anxious, or too distracted, we simply can’t tune in to that still inner space where real answers arise.

HOW TO RECEIVE THE ANSWERS?

The way to receive answers is simple yet often overlooked — create silence. We need to pause our internal dialogue to listen within. Moments of silence, reflection, deep breathing, or quiet solitude are not just restful — they are doorways to insight.

Spending time in nature, journalling your thoughts, sitting quietly without distractions, or practising mindfulness can create space for inner clarity to emerge. The more still the mind becomes, the more visible the answers appear. It’s like muddy water settling down. When the turbulence is gone, clarity rises. The best time is early morning, when the body and mind are both rested and quiet.

In the ocean of life, answers are always present — floating gently, waiting to be seen and felt. But, to find them, we must stop swimming frantically and float in stillness. When the inner chatter fades, answers begin to speak — not in loud declarations, but in soft, unmistakable whispers. All we need to do is listen.
