Do the ‘best’ and leave the ‘rest’
We all have heard the phrase “Do the best and leave the rest.” But in our daily life, how many of us are actually able to live it? Most people fall into one of three categories:
· Those who do their best but can’t let go of the expectation of the desired result.
· Those who don’t do their best but still stress about the outcome.
· Those who neither give their best nor care about what follows.
Unfortunately, none of these brings peace or progress. What we truly lack is the balance between sincere effort and inner contentment.
‘Leaving the rest’ doesn’t mean not caring. It simply means releasing the anxious grip we hold on the result. Many ask, “If I leave the rest, then who takes care of it?” The question isn’t about “who” but “how” we let go. Letting go means trusting that the outcome will match the effort and energy we put in —if not today, then definitely someday.
HOW TO ‘LEAVE THE REST’
The best way to let go of the desired outcome is to understand the universal law of ‘action and reaction’. Every action carries its result, shaped by the energy, thought, and intent behind it. If you give your best — honestly and wholeheartedly — the result will reflect that sooner or later.
The law is universal and unbiased. When we understand and trust it, we stop wasting our energy on worry and anxiety. Instead, we use that energy to further refine our skills and efforts.
The truth is: after you have done your part, the outcome is no longer in your control. The only thing you can control is how well you do your part. Once the action is complete, the cycle of worry must also end. Have faith that what is meant and right for you will arrive — exactly when it should.
HOW TO DELIVER YOUR BEST?
To give your best, you first need to know your best, which requires self-awareness. If you don’t know your true potential, how can you give your best! Most of us act only within the limits of what we currently believe about ourselves. When you disconnect from the noise of the world, spend time in silence and solitude, you begin to hear your inner wisdom. You realise that your capacity is far greater than you anticipated.
Knowing yourself brings confidence. Confidence makes effort easy. Effort brings excellence. And excellence, when paired with contentment, brings peace.
So, do your best — not for praise or results but because it uplifts and empowers you. Once done, breathe easy and let the laws of life take over.
