KINGSTON:

The Mayberry Jamaica Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (JABBFA) National Senior Championship returns to the stage today at 7 p.m. at the Wolmer’s Boys’ Auditorium, National Heroes Circle.

Under the theme ‘Investing in Excellence, Building Champions’, Jamaica’s top bodybuilding and fitness athletes will go head‑to‑head for national titles after months of rigorous training and preparation.

This evening’s finals follow the July 30 launch at the Liguanea Club in New Kingston, where Mayberry Investments Limited reaffirmed its commitment to local sporting excellence with a $1‑million sponsorship pledge.

Mayberry has served as title sponsor since 2022, using its corporate platform to invest in local sport, healthy lifestyles, and national athlete development. The company emphasised that its continued support of JABBFA reflects a strategic investment in human potential, noting that the discipline required of bodybuilding competitors mirrors Mayberry’s own values of perseverance and excellence.

“At Mayberry Investments Limited, our mission extends well beyond the boardroom. We are in the business of building futures, and we recognise that strong, healthy communities are the foundation on which strong economies are built,” said Desiree Wheeler, marketing manager at Mayberry Investments Limited.

Speakers from the sporting and medical communities highlighted the holistic benefits of competitive fitness, stressing that the discipline provides athletes with purpose, community, and vital support systems.

“The sport gives you purpose and community. It doesn’t matter if you’re a professional, doesn’t matter what you’re doing outside of it... It gave me purpose and community,” shared Dr Romario Thomas, dermatologist, cosmetic surgeon, and past men’s physique champion.

JABBFA executives praised Mayberry’s evolution from traditional sponsor to long‑term partner committed to elevating the standard of bodybuilding across Jamaica and the region.

“Since becoming our title sponsor in 2022, Mayberry has been far more than just a sponsor; they have become a strategic partner to our association in the growth and transformation of bodybuilding in Jamaica. Their investment has really enabled us to enhance the quality of the National Championship,” noted Orick Anderson, treasurer of JABBFA.

With Mayberry’s continued support, the championship remains Jamaica’s flagship annual fitness and physique event, inspiring athletes nationwide to pursue discipline, health, and sporting excellence.
