Fowler-Nembhard set for Fever return

Sunshine Girls captain Jhaniele Fowler‑Nembhard says she is delighted to be returning to West Coast Fever after re‑signing with the Australian club for the upcoming Suncorp Super Netball League season.

Fowler‑Nembhard, widely regarded as one of the world’s best goal shooters, missed the 2025 season after giving birth to her second child. Now 37, she is preparing to resume competitive netball and is eager to once again take the court in front of the Fever’s supporters.

“I’m stoked to get back out there on court in front of the Green Army,” Fowler‑Nembhard said. “I love what has been built here, our culture and the people around the Club, the people that celebrate us and who we inspire. WA in general always back us.”

The veteran shooter, who has more than 90 international caps for Jamaica, last represented the Sunshine Girls in the 2024 Horizon Series against England. She missed several tournaments, including the recent Commonwealth Games where Jamaica secured a silver medal.

She added that she still has plenty to offer and is determined to make the most of her return.

“I have so much more to give. I have been blessed with a wonderful talent and I just have to share it,” she said.

Her return has been welcomed by West Coast Fever General Manager Sara Francis‑Bayman, who said Fowler‑Nembhard’s presence will significantly strengthen the team.

“Jhaniele is one of the greatest players of all time and has been at her very best in recent years,” Francis‑Bayman said. “Returning after giving birth, she is determined, hungry and ready to chase another premiership.”

Francis‑Bayman noted that Fowler‑Nembhard’s return will give Fever a formidable attacking option while also providing valuable leadership and experience.

“Her return gives us an unstoppable presence in one‑point time and forms a vital part of what will be a potent attacking group,” she said. “Just as importantly, her experience, leadership and consistently elite standards will have a huge impact on the group and give everyone around her enormous confidence. We can’t wait to have her back full‑time.”
