Football lovers crammed into Caymanas Park stands and infield to watch yesterday’s World Cup final between Argentina and Spain.
Caymanas Park hosted as many as possibly 7,000 patrons yesterday, not your average 10-race thoroughbred horse-racing card but instead, people crammed into its stands and infield to watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between winners Spain vs Argentina.
Chloleen Daley-Muschett, assistant vice-president, public relations and corporate affairs, Supreme Ventures Group (SVG), said its JustBet Goal Rush promotion surpassed expectations with Caymanas Park playing a major role in its success.
“To support the JustBet Goal Rush promotion, we have been showing the games here at Caymanas Park, which showcases the diversity of the park itself. Today we don’t have football and horse racing coinciding, yet the turnout has been spectacular,” Daley-Muschett noted.
SVG’s sports-betting arm, Supreme Ventures Gaming, has reported an immense success in wagers placed on the 2026 World Cup held jointly by Mexico, the United States, and Canada.
Stefan Miller, chief executive officer, Supreme Ventures Gaming, confirmed a million bets placed since the start of the tournament on its JustBet platform, describing the volume as a success by “every measure, every metric and every key performance-indicator”.
Set to host the return of the Diamond Mile on Saturday, an event for grade-one horses with a purse of $10 million, a win-and-you’re-in for December’s US$300,000 Mouttet Mile, Caymanas Park will stay true to its horse-racing roots but will continue playing a role in diversification of SVG’s product offerings.
“Horse racing will always be the centre of what we do at Caymanas Park, our bread and butter, but we will always be looking at other ways to diversify. For the World Cup, we have had people from all over the country, not just Portmore.
“It’s a family affair. They bring food, the kids. They said it’s an experience that is different and one that they would come back to,” Daley-Muschett added, hinting that SVG and Caymanas Park, operated by Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited, have “quite a few other events coming up”.
