The semi-finalists of the ISSA Burger King Urban U14 and the ISSA Mighty Malt Urban U16 football competitions will be decided today with the final fixtures of the quarter-final round set to get under way.

In the U14 competition, three of the semi-finalists have already been decided with Wolmer’s Boys’ School, Kingston College (KC) and Jamaica College (JC) already securing their passage to the next round.

Wolmer’s sit atop Group A with six points, clear of Hillel Academy, who are second with three, and Excelsior High and Campion College, both on one.

Hillel, Excelsior and Campion are all still in contention for a semi-final spot, with Hillel in the most advantageous position.

Hillel will travel to Campion knowing a win will ensure they make it into the final four. A draw or defeat could also see them advancing, but that would be reliant on the result of the group’s other game.

Excelsior face the tough task of travelling to group leader’s Wolmer’s, needing a win, as well as a Hillel loss, if they are to advance.

Campion are also in a similar situation as they will need to defeat Hillel, while also hoping that Wolmer’s get the better of Excelsior to secure a final-four spot.

In Group B, KC and JC reign supreme, with six points each. KC hold the advantage with a better goal difference.

The two teams will face off in a top-of-the-table clash to decide the final standings, while St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) and Eltham, both already eliminated from the competition, will meet in a game of academic interest.

In the U16 competition, there are two semi-final spots still up for grabs, with STATHS and KC already through.

In Group A, STATHS lead the way with six points, ahead of St George’s College (STGC) and Mona High, both on three, and Eltham High without a point.

STGC, Mona and Eltham are all still in contention; however, Eltham are unlikely to advance as they hold a -10 goal difference.

Eltham’s only chance to advance would require for them to topple Mona with a massive win, while also needing STATHS to record a big win over STGC.

STGC and Mona have had similar fortunes. They are currently tied on three points apiece, and will need to better the other’s results if they are to advance.

It is an identical story in Group B as KC rule the roost with six points, while JC and Wolmer’s sit second and third, respectively, with three points apiece.

Excelsior sit at the foot of the table without a point, but still hold a chance of advancing.

The U14 games are set to kick off at 1 p.m., with the U16 games set for 3 p.m.
