A Portmore, St Catherine policeman has been reported missing after he failed to return home from a visit to his girlfriend and did not report for duty at his job over the weekend.

The missing cop has been identified as Constable Kevin Williams, who is assigned to the Waterford Police Station in Portmore and lives in Cumberland.

According to preliminary reports, Williams left his home to visit his girlfriend on St John's Road in Spanish Town but did not return to his dwelling.

He was also absent when he was scheduled to report for duty at work for the 6:00 p.m. shift on Saturday, July 18.

His mother subsequently filed a missing person report at the Caymanas Police Station in Portmore on Sunday, July 19.

Attempts to contact Williams on his cell phone since Saturday have been unsuccessful, as calls to the device have gone unanswered.

A colleague who has worked alongside Williams described him as a "good youth" who was always willing to answer the call of duty.

"He's humble, jovial, always ready for duty. He's basically a reserved kind of guy, dependable," the colleague said.

The police have launched checks in an effort to locate the constable, and investigations into his disappearance are ongoing.
