64-year-old Clarendon woman found dead with stab wounds at her home

The Clarendon police are investigating the killing of a 64-year-old woman whose partially nude body, bearing stab wounds, was found at her home in the Union district near Frankfield.

The deceased has been identified as Hyacinth Rose Johnson, a domestic helper.

The police report that about 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, residents stumbled upon the body behind Johnson's house.

The police were summoned, and upon arrival, officers observed the body lying face down with stab wounds to the chest.

Information reaching The Gleaner is that Johnson was last seen at church on Sunday.

Concern grew when she did not turn up for her usual prayer meeting on Tuesday, prompting residents to check on her. They later made the grim discovery.

Meanwhile, in a video posted to social media, Councillor Stephen Williams of the Ritchies Division condemned the killing and urged anyone with information to report it to the police.

“We can’t have things like this taking place in our country. It can affect any one of us... it can be on any one of our doorsteps, so let us join hands and hearts and bring the perpetrators to justice,” he said.

Williams also urged residents and anyone with information to come forward and assist the police with their investigations.

Up to June 27, a total of 20 civilians had been killed in Clarendon.

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is being asked to call the May Pen Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) at 876-832-2077, the police emergency number, 119, or the nearest police station.
