Three men killed in alleged police confrontation in St Catherine

Three men were fatally shot early this morning by the police in Browns Hall district, St Catherine during an alleged confrontation.

They are yet to be identified.

The police report that about 2:35, cops conducted an operation in the area.

According to the police, on approaching a premises the team was challenged by armed men.

The police say the cops took evasive action and returned fire.

When the shooting subsided, three men were found suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

The police said two firearms were seized.

The men were assisted to Spanish Town Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The matter is being probed by the Independent Commission of Investigations.
