The National Works Agency (NWA) has advised that Central Avenue in St Andrew will be closed for 10 hours on Saturday and Sunday.
It says the road is to be closed between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., each day to facilitate drainage improvement works.
Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says that the works are slated to continue on the weekend of October 4 and 5.
He says the objective of the works is to reduce the incidence of flooding that occurs along Central Avenue, especially following torrential rains.
Central Avenue is a major corridor that links Constant Spring Road to West Avenue and provides access to The Queen's School.
The NWA says during the period of closure, no vehicular traffic will be allowed from Constant Spring Road onto Central Avenue.
Residents wishing to access their property will be allowed to via West Avenue.
Motorists are being advised to proceed with caution and to observe the instructions of flagmen and posted warning signs.
