Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness has met with Canada’s new prime minister, Mark Carney, and held discussions regarding cooperation in the areas of security, regional concerns, and education and training.

Holness said the bilateral meeting took place this morning.

He noted that Canada and Jamaica share a long history of friendship, mutual respect and close cooperation and said Jamaica looks forward to continuing its partnership with Canada to advance shared goals for sustainable development, prosperity, and regional stability.

Holness is in New York attending the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80) from September 23 to September 26.

He says the gathering of world leaders presents a vital platform for Jamaica to reaffirm its commitment to international cooperation and shared action in confronting global challenges.
