This year’s Bob Marley Earthstrong celebrations on Friday, February 6, will be held under the theme Positive Vibration, which is taken from Rastaman Vibration, the landmark 1976 album, which turns 50 this year. Rooted in resilience, unity, and forward movement, the theme reflects the spirit of both Marley’s message and the Jamaican people.
Inspired by the island’s unwavering strength in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, Positive Vibration captures the true essence of who we are as Jamaicans, celebrated worldwide for our warmth, creativity, and ability to rise above adversity.
Through sustained initiatives and community-driven partnerships, the Bob and Rita Marley Foundations remain committed to helping families return to safe homes, restoring livelihoods, and strengthening institutions that prepare our students for the future.
“Daddy would want us to show up for our people. He led by example, and I know he would be one of the first to start helping, so we are responding. We honour and celebrate his life by taking care of our brothers and sisters and by promoting positive vibration, not just in words but in action,” Cedella Marley, CEO of the Bob Marley Group of Companies, is quoted in a press release.
To keep Jamaica’s recovery needs at the forefront, the Bob and Rita Marley Foundations, American Friends of Jamaica, Tuff Gong Radio, and SiriusXM have joined forces for the four-part Positive Concert Series. Set to take place at select SiriusXM studios across North America, the series will shine the spotlight on critical areas of national recovery. The series officially kicks off on February 6 with a Positive Vibration 81 session airing on Bob Marley’s Tuff Gong Radio from the SiriusXM Miami Beach studio.
On February 6, there will be a full day of festivities at the Bob Marley Museum. The day begins with a vibrant ceremony, including the blowing of the abeng and blessings from the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. A special segment will showcase talented students from across Jamaica celebrating Marley’s legacy through music, dance, and spoken word.
Creativity comes alive through activities such as ceramics, painting, virtual-reality experiences, music-making, and more, engaging children, teachers, and families throughout the day.
The celebration continues with live performances at Emancipation Park featuring a stellar line-up of established and emerging artistes paying tribute to Bob Marley’s legacy. The tribute concert is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport.
