Reigning Miss Global Nguyen Dinh Nhu Van has arrived in Jamaica for an official visit ahead of Saturday’s Miss Global Jamaica 2026 grand coronation. The Vietnam native landed on Wednesday evening and was welcomed by Keri-Ann Greenwood, Miss Global Jamaica 2025 and Miss Global 2025 1st Runner-Up. Nhu Van’s trip marks the first official visit to Jamaica by a reigning Miss Global. She will be accompanying Greenwood as she prepares for the coronation at the Wolmer’s Boys’ School auditorium, with several public and private engagements planned during her stay.
Last December, 26 hopefuls were introduced and sashed at the launch of Miss Global Jamaica 2026. Speaking with The Gleaner at that launch event held at Footprints Café in Kingston, Jermane Blair, franchise holder and national director of Miss Global Jamaica, shared that the calibre of this year’s field made the selection process both exciting and challenging.
“Every queen is unique,” he said, adding, “We have a number of contestants in the competition this year that are making it tough to select, which is good. Beautiful and intelligent women who truly embody what it means to be a queen, are fighting hard for the win.”
Blair added, “Once that winner is chosen, the training that our [current] queen, Keri-Ann, received will be the same training these ladies will receive; so we can only hope that they will go on that international stage and represent accordingly again.”
Jamaica has achieved its highest placement in the competition with Greenwood’s 1st runner-up finish in Thailand last March, after entering the pageant on four previous occasions: Celine Walters in 2023, Pickqueena Burrell in 2022, Elisha Jolly in 2019, and Kiane Ashman-Swaby in 2017.
The Miss Global beauty pageant was established in 2013, not to be confused with the Miss Global International beauty pageant, owned and founded by Montego Bay businessman Lachu Ramchandani.
