Rescuers in Nepal pull 2 people alive from debris 10 days after devastating floods

KATHMANDU, Nepal (AP) — Rescuers in Nepal pulled out a Chinese man and a woman in separate operations Saturday, 10 days after devastating floods hit the country, as teams continued searching for thousands of missing people. The man was rescued from a hydropower tunnel, according to a social media post by the country’s prime minister’s office, bringing the total to three workers pulled alive from the Trishuli hydropower project. Two Nepalese workers were rescued on Friday.

JCF mourns constable killed in Westmoreland collision

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) High Command is expressing condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the policeman who died in a two-vehicle collision on the Farm Pen main road in Westmoreland early Saturday morning. He has been identified as 37-year-old Constable Chadrick Cooke of Hertford district in the parish. The police say the Chaplaincy Services Branch, Medical Services Branch and Welfare Branch are providing support to the family members and colleagues of Cooke.

Trinidadian man in New York pleads guilty to sex trafficking, admits to kidnapping six women

NEW YORK, CMC – A 33-year-old Trinidadian man and lawful permanent United States resident has pleaded guilty to sex trafficking and admitted to kidnapping six additional women. The Department of Justice (DOJ) said that, during a plea hearing, Chad Barclay admitted that on September 13, 2022, he enticed a woman to his residence to engage in commercial sex, where he robbed and sexually assaulted her. As part of a plea agreement, Barclay “stipulated to kidnapping six additional women between 2022 and 2023”, according to the DOJ.
