Twenty-seven-year-old Regina McLean has been named Miss Universe Jamaica Hanover 2026 after organisers opted not to stage a parish competition this year. Westmoreland and Hanover Parish Director Hannah Sheree said the decision not to stage a competition was taken because the parish-based structure was introduced after the audition process was already at an advanced stage, resulting in most contestants entering under Westmoreland.

“As the parish manager for Miss Universe Jamaica Westmoreland and Hanover, I determined that it would be most appropriate to stage the inaugural Miss Universe Jamaica Hanover competition next year. This decision was made because the parish-based structure was introduced after the audition process was already in its advanced stages, resulting in the majority of contestants having entered under the Westmoreland parish,” Sheree told The Gleaner, adding, “I look forward to the crowning of two queens (Westmoreland and Hanover) next year from a selection of prospective delegates from both parishes in one pageant.”

After an impressive showing in the recently held Miss Universe Jamaica Westmoreland competition, McLean placed first runner-up and earned widespread admiration for her grace, intelligence, and authenticity. Sheree described McLean as embodying the qualities of an ambassador and said her authenticity, passion to serve, and ability to inspire make her an exceptional representative for the parish.

Beyond the pageant stage, McLean is an author, entrepreneur, social media strategist, and environmental advocate. Armed with a bachelor's degree in international relations, she brings a blend of creativity and strategic thinking to her reign.

Professionally, McLean works as a social media specialist in Jamaica's luxury hospitality industry, where she creates digital content and marketing campaigns promoting the island's tourism offerings.

Outside of her corporate work, McLean is a self-published author with three publications and uses her platforms to inspire and engage others.

Yet, what truly sets her apart is her commitment to impact.

Her environmental initiative, Roots2Reef, focuses on mangrove restoration, marine life preservation, and climate advocacy across Jamaica and the wider Caribbean. For her, sustainability is not a buzzword; it is a personal responsibility.

“I feel incredibly honoured and deeply grateful to represent the beautiful parish of Hanover,” McLean shared. “This opportunity feels like both a full-circle moment and a new beginning. I don’t take this responsibility lightly.”

She added that her reign will be rooted in visibility, advocacy, and service.

“You can expect a woman who leads with heart, purpose, and consistency. Beyond the glamour, I want my journey to be rooted in meaningful connections, service, and advocacy,” McLean said.

She believes authenticity will be her greatest strength as she competes for the national crown.

“Every woman in this competition brings something unique, so I don’t view this as standing above anyone else,” she explained. “I hope to stand out because of my authenticity. I bring my experience in social media management, storytelling, environmental advocacy, strategy, and a genuine desire to serve.”

Sheree added that McLean’s first runner-up finish in the Miss Universe Jamaica Westmoreland competition, along with her Most Congenial title, reflected her relatability, stage presence and ability to connect with people.

Away from pageantry and work life, McLean describes herself as deeply creative and purpose driven. She enjoys writing, journalling, travelling, exploring different cultures, and spending time by the ocean.

“At my core, I am simply a woman who believes life is most meaningful when we use our gifts in service to something greater than ourselves,” she explained.
