A Denham Town man has been charged for allegedly carrying out a gun attack on a man who was sitting along a roadway in the community.

Tevin Duffus, otherwise called ‘Janoi’ or ‘John Hype’, was on Monday charged with shooting with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition and using a firearm to commit a felony.

A court date is being finalised.

The police say the charges stem from a shooting incident at the intersection of Elgin Street and Greenwich Street in Denham Town, Kingston, on Friday, June 12.

Reports from the Denham Town police are that about 11:38 p.m., a man was sitting on the side of the roadway when he was allegedly pounced upon by Duffus and an accomplice, who brandished firearms and opened fire at him.

The man reportedly ran and managed to evade the two men.

Duffus and his accomplice then fled on foot into a neighbouring community, the police reported.

A report was made to the police, and an investigation was launched.

According to the police, Duffus was arrested and subsequently charged on Monday, August 17, following an identification parade.
