ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (CMC):

SHERFANE RUTHERFORD hit a scintillating 40 off just 18 balls and the Desert Vipers recorded their second consecutive win in the International League T20 with a comfortable six-wicket victory over the Gulf Giants yesterday.

After being sent in to bat, Giants captain James Vince scored a valiant unbeaten 76 from 62 balls, but his team could only muster 119 for nine from their 20 overs.

Aayan Khan was the only other double-digit contributor with 15 runs.

Shimron Hetmyer fell for just eight from 13 deliveries.

Fast bowler Lockie Ferguson was the main destroyer for the Vipers with 3-22, while Mohammad Amir snared 2-23.

Rutherford then slammed three sixes and three fours during an unbroken 55-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Sam Curran, who scored an unbeaten 42 from 43 balls, as Vipers eased across the line with 14 balls to spare.
