Fatal police shooting in York Town, Clarendon, high-powered rifles seized

Two men were fatally shot during an alleged confrontation with the police in York Town, Clarendon early this morning.

The police say an M16 rifle and an AK-47 rifle were seized.

According to the police, around 12:35 a.m., a team was conducting an operation in the area when they were challenged by armed men.

The police reportedly took evasive action and opened fire.

The police say that after the shooting ended, checks were made and the two men were found wounded and in possession of weapons.

They were assisted to the May Pen Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The matter is being probed by the police as well as the Independent Commission of Investigations.
