Three reportedly shot and killed by police; westbound lane of Mandela Highway closed
Motorists are being advised that the westbound lane of the Mandela Highway in the vicinity of the entrance to the PJ Patterson Highway is closed following a fatal shooting incident on Wednesday.
The police say the eastbound lane has been turned into two-way traffic.
Drivers are urged to exercise caution, obey traffic directions and expect minor delays while travelling through the area.
A release from the Jamaica Constabulary Force's Corporate Communications Unit did not give details of the incident which led to the traffic diversion.
However, The Gleaner has confirmed that an incident in which three people were reportedly shot and killed by police took place along Mandela Highway about 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Processing of the scene has impacted traffic.
The police have promised updates on the matter.
