The policemen killed on Thursday night along Waltham Park Road in St Andrew have been identified as constables Charles Stewart, assigned to St Catherine North police division, and Jemarey Gordon, assigned to the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (CTOC).

Stewart is said to be the son of a veteran policeman who was recently promoted to the rank of inspector.

The off-duty cops were gunned down near 83 Lane where they reportedly went to meet someone to conduct business 7:45 p.m.

Reports are that the policemen were standing in the area when they were pounced upon by men who opened fire.

Both men were pronounced dead at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH).

The National Security Minister Dr Horace Chang has condemned the deadly attack.

A manhunt has been launched for the policemen's killers as a high level probe continues into the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
