Jamaican-Canadian supermodel Winnie Harlow will release her debut children’s book, Simply Winnie, on June 2, 2026.

Born to Jamaican parents, Harlow dedicates this deeply personal project to her mother, grandmother, and late grandfather, making it clear they are the foundation of her confidence and the book’s inspiration.

The picture book follows a stylish young girl named Winnie whose confidence fades when she struggles to fit in at school, only to be restored by the wisdom of her grandmother, who reminds her of the beauty in being herself.

Rooted in Harlow’s motivation to ensure every young reader feels seen and validated, the book serves as a direct message of affirmation for any child who feels different.

“Every page of this book is a piece of my heart. Growing up with vitiligo, I often felt misunderstood. I wrote this book for any child who feels different, to remind them not only are they not alone, they’re seen!” she shared on Instagram.

Harlow was diagnosed with vitiligo at age four. In her Instagram announcement on Wednesday, she explained the project’s larger mission.

She states, “I want children to grow up in a world where diversity representation is the norm, not performative. Where ‘the ugly duckling’ is rewritten simply as ‘The Beautiful Swan’”.

The supermodel, whose face has redefined global beauty standards, recently witnessed the impact of her platform during a World Vitiligo Day appearance on Today on June 25. There, a group of supporters shared messages detailing how she helped bolster their confidence.

In a People magazine exclusive, Harlow says this book serves a specific purpose for young readers across the globe.

The picture book, illustrated by Sawyer Cloud and published by Penguin Kids, is intended for readers ages four to eight.
