Mother killed, child injured in home invasion by police impersonators
The St Catherine South police are probing the murder of a young mother and injury to her child after a home invasion yesterday morning in a section of Old Harbour.
The Gleaner understands that the attackers reportedly posed as members of the security forces and forced entry as they shouted 'Police'..
The deceased woman has been identified as 25-year-old Dajahane Wright.
Her son was shot in the leg, according to investigators.
The victims were reportedly at home in Marley Mount in Old Harbour about 4:40 a.m. when a group of armed men entered the premises and fired shots, hitting them both, before escaping.
The Gleaner understands that the father of the child may have been the target.
Sources close to the family said he was not home at the time of the deadly attack.
The community is on edge as Old Harbour has seen a flare up of criminal activities in recent weeks.
“Mi can’t believe dem kill the Dae (Dahjahna). She don’t deserve to die like that. Mi still can’t believe. They leave the child to live without a mother. She loved her son… mi just can’t believe,” a friend of the deceased told The Gleaner.
