Jamaica needs third parties

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I listened to Prime Minister Andrew Holness’ pronouncements on stamping out corruption during his swearing-in speech when his party regained state power in 2016, and I also listened to Portia Simpson Miller’s in 2012.

Now that we have seen that he has failed to manage his team in steering clear of corruption, it brings me to again ask the Jamaican public to embrace other parties outside of the People’s National Party and the Jamaica Labour Party.

We need third parties in the Parliament that will bat for term limits for prime ministers.

I am not sure of any REAL economic gains since Mr Holness came to power in 2016, as all I am seeing are increased costs at the pumps, in my light bill, my water rate, my internet bill, etc. At last check, it took J$136 to purchase US$1.
